In Search of the Garden City
About this tour
In Search of the Garden City is a series of guided walks exploring how garden-city ideas took shape in Gothenburg. The series is divided into three parts—Änggården, Kungsladugård and Bagaregården—with each walk focusing on one district. We follow urban planner Albert Lilienberg’s ideas about bringing light, air, beauty and social values together in a carefully planned urban environment—a vision of the good life in the city. Along the walks, we see how these ideas shaped the architecture, street space, houses and greenery, and how they still influence the character and everyday life of the districts. The relevant part is identified for each departure under Upcoming Events.
